Hayward Bag Filter

Hayward’s FLV Series gives aquaculture, aquarium and zoo life support system (LSS) operators a corrosion-proof PVC bag filter housing for seawater, brackish and chemically dosed systems, no rust, and no metal leaching into culture water. This listing covers the 2″ (DN50) PVC vessels, available in two lengths — single length (775 mm) running a 7″ × 16″ (Size 1) bag, and double length (1181 mm) running a 7″ × 32″ (Size 2) bag — each with a choice of true-union socket/threaded or flanged PVC ends. All are rated to 150 psi (10.3 bar) and flow up to 378 LPM.

Key features
  • Corrosion-proof PVC — immune to seawater, salt and the chemicals used to dose and disinfect aquaculture, aquarium and zoo LSS systems
  • 2″ (DN50) true-union ends — choose socket/threaded or flanged
  • Two lengths: single (775 mm, 7″×16″ / Size 1 bag) and double (1181 mm, 7″×32″ / Size 2 bag)
  • Rated to 150 psi (10.3 bar) at 70°F, non-shock; flow up to 378 LPM
  • FPM seals standard; EPDM optional
  • Hand-removable cover with liquid-displacing dome and an included vent valve
  • Solid one-piece basket, bottom drain port and integral mounting base; in-line or loop flow
  • Suits filter bags from 1 to 800 micron; duplex and pressure/differential gauge options available
Do I need a single or double length housing?

The single length vessel (775 mm) takes a 7″ × 16″ Size 1 bag and suits lower volumes and tighter spaces. The double length vessel (1181 mm) takes a 7″ × 32″ Size 2 bag for greater dirt-holding capacity and longer runs between change-outs. Both share the 150 psi rating and flow up to 378 LPM.

Should I choose socket/threaded or flanged ends?

Both are true-union PVC. Socket/threaded ends suit solvent-weld or screwed PVC pipework (socket to ISO 727-1, thread to BS21); flanged ends (DIN/EN PN10) suit bolted connections and make removal for service easier. Pick the option that matches your plumbing below.

Applications

Marine and brackish recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS), hatcheries and broodstock systems, public aquarium and zoo life support systems (LSS), incoming-seawater pre-filtration, chemical dosing and disinfection lines, and protecting downstream pumps, UV units and heat exchangers. Frequently asked questions

Why are both lengths rated at the same flow rate? The 378 LPM rating is the flow through the filter bag, not a vessel limit — both lengths share it because they use the same 2″ connections (for higher flows, multiple housings can be manifolded together). The benefit of double length is its larger 7″ × 32″ bag versus the single length’s 7″ × 16″: more filtration area and dirt-holding capacity, so longer runs between bag changes.

What pressure and flow do they handle? Rated to 150 psi (10.3 bar) at 70°F non-shock, with flow up to 378 LPM depending on bag choice.

What size bags do they take? Single length uses a 7″ × 16″ (Size 1) bag; double length uses a 7″ × 32″ (Size 2) bag. Bags are available from 1 to 800 micron — we supply them to suit.

What’s the difference between socket/threaded and flanged? Both are true-union PVC; socket/threaded suits solvent-weld or screwed pipework, flanged suits bolted connections and easier removal.

Are they suitable for seawater and dosing chemicals? Yes — the PVC body is corrosion-proof for seawater, brackish water and the chemicals used in aquaculture water treatment.
