Oli Underwood

Oli Underwood is an experienced aquarium professional with over 15 years in the design, operation and optimisation of complex aquatic life support systems, focused on advancing operations through technical innovation, energy efficiency and reliability.

Before joining Fresh By Design, Oli was Curator at SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast, where he developed and oversaw several major infrastructure and conservation projects including energy efficient pump and aeration upgrades, advanced lighting system overhauls and the design of a seaweed culture system supporting research and sustainability programs. Earlier in his career at Sea World Gold Coast, Oli joined during the construction of one of the world’s largest jellyfish research laboratories, supporting its installation and later managing its operation. He went on to oversee all aquarium operations, leading large scale upgrades across systems up to 21,000 m³ in volume.

Oli brings extensive technical knowledge in life support system design and operation, including ozone treatment, UV disinfection and custom filtration systems. He applies this expertise to deliver efficient, reliable and high performing aquatic systems for clients across Australia and New Zealand.
