Product Information

Key Features

  • Over 5,500 m²/m³ of PROTECTED specific surface area — the highest of any media Fresh By Design stocks
  • Biofilm grows inside an engineered pore system, shielded from the shear that scours open media
  • 28 – 29 mm chip, 1 – 1.05 mm thick, in virgin polyethylene
  • Supplier reports removal rates up to ten times higher than conventional carriers of the same bed volume
  • Lets you build a far smaller reactor for the same ammonia load, or lift the capacity of an existing one
  • Suits fresh and marine RAS, hatcheries, public aquarium life support and wastewater duties
  • Supplied in 100 L boxes or 1 m³ (1000 L) bulk bags
  • Choosing your volume: biochip is sized on protected surface area, not bag count. Work out the protected area your daily ammonia (TAN) load needs, divide by 5,500 m²/m³ to get the bed volume in cubic metres, then order in 100 L or 1 m³ lots. The supplier does not publish a nitrification rate with a reference temperature and TAN concentration, so send us your feed rate and water temperature and we will confirm the volume with you.
