Work to a duty point rather than a headline flow. Tell us the flow you need and the total head in the circuit — static lift plus friction through filter, UV and pipework — and whether it is fresh or salt water, and we will select against the pump curve. Maximum flow figures are free-flow and will not be what you get in a real loop.
What is the difference between the standard driver and the IPU driver?
The pump is the same and the published performance is the same — flow, head and power consumption are identical across both. The difference is in the driver unit itself, and Abyzz publish no side-by-side comparison, so give us a call before you order. It matters commercially: on an A400 the two drivers are about $1,200 apart. The A120 and A1200 are only offered with the IPU driver.
The MP is the medium pressure version of the A1200. venotec state it is designed to reach maximum efficiency between 1 and 10 metres of head, so it suits the higher-head end of a circulation duty. Ask us which suits your job.
What cable length should I order?
Cable length is fixed at the time of order and is not a field change, so work it out from the real cable route between the pump position and the driver, not the straight-line distance. Every model is offered in 3 m and 10 m except the A120, which is 3 m. The A1200 at 10 m includes an Abyzz Range Extender.
Can the pump be mounted dry?
Yes — the wet end can be immersed or mounted in a dry position. In either case the pump is not self-priming, so it has to sit below water level. The A120 must be mounted horizontally.
Will they run on seawater?
Yes. The impeller is titanium, the bearings are silicon carbide on a hard metal shaft, and integrated bearing flushing protects against calcification. Abyzz list freshwater and seawater aquaristics among the intended applications.
Can the pump be controlled from our existing system?
Yes — every model has an auxiliary connector for peripheral devices, including interfacing to an external controller, alongside the built-in MCFS programming for wave, burst and random flow patterns.
Abyzz pumps carry a manufacturer warranty which extends to a 10-year limited lifetime warranty once the pump is registered, at no additional cost, in line with the manufacturer’s warranty rules. Incorrect installation, neglect, misuse, flooding, corrosion, power faults, unauthorised modification and wear parts such as O-rings and seals are excluded.
Stock position moves, so check with us before you plan around a date. As at September 2026 the A400 is available in standard driver 3 m and IPU 3 m and 10 m; everything else is indent.
