Q: How do I choose the right pump?

Work out your required flow and your total head, including pipe friction and any filter or UV losses, then pick the model that meets that flow at that head – a flow figure on its own does not size a pump.

Q: What does the variable speed actually buy me?

Motor input on the ECO-V 100 drops from 0.86 kW on high to 0.16 kW on low, so running the pump slower for longer moves water at a fraction of the power a throttled fixed-speed pump would draw.

Q: Do I need a separate VFD?

No – the speed control is built into the permanent-magnet DC motor, so there is no external drive to buy, mount or wire.

Q: Is the Hydrostorm Eco self-priming?

Waterco’s Eco-V data sheet does not publish a suction lift figure, so we size the Eco on flooded suction by default – tell us your suction arrangement and we will confirm it.

Q: Is it single phase or three phase?

Both Eco models are single phase; if you need three phase, look at the Hydrostar Plus, or run a fixed-speed Hydrostorm or TurboFlo on a separate drive.

Q: Does it suit salt water?

The Eco is not listed with the sea water mechanical seal that the Supastream, Hydrostorm, Hydrostar Plus and TurboFlo carry, so talk to us before specifying it on salt water.

Q: Where does the Eco sit in the Waterco range?

It is the smallest and the only variable speed pump we list, up to about 264 LPM at 7.3 m head; Supastream, Hydrostorm and TurboFlo cover the mid range and Hydrostar Plus the largest duties.
