FBD commissioned an Atlantic Salmon egg incubation system for Tassal at their Rookwood Road Hatchery, to improve quality and capacity over their existing system. FBD’s role included design of the filtration system using the existing building footprint and existing Comphatch layout, along with supply and installation of equipment. The system included Waterco media filters with carbon and zeolite, Pentair UV sterilisers, an RK2 freshwater fractionator, circulation pumps, Grundfos main supply pumps, a Degree C chilling system, an FBD degassing unit and backup diesel pumps.
The new system had to improve egg quality and capacity over the existing system while fitting within the existing building footprint and the existing Comphatch incubation layout.
Filtration and water treatment train designed around the existing hatchery building and Comphatch layout: Waterco media filtration with carbon and zeolite, Pentair UV sterilisation, RK2 freshwater fractionation, temperature control via a Degree C chiller, FBD degassing, circulation and Grundfos main supply pumping, with backup diesel pumps for redundancy.
