A degassing tower removes dissolved carbon dioxide from recirculating water and raises dissolved oxygen at the same time. In the MAT DGT series the same vessel also holds a fixed bed of aerated PE media, so nitrification takes place alongside gas exchange rather than in a separate biofilter downstream.

Pre-filtered water enters at the top of the tower and trickles down through the media bed. Air is blown counter-current through the packing and strips CO2 from the descending water film. Bacteria colonising the media surface oxidise total ammonia nitrogen to nitrite and then nitrate. Treated water collects in the base and returns to the system.

Height and media volume are quoted as ranges because bed depth is set to suit the duty. Sizing is set by recirculation rate, target CO2 and the total ammonia load from the feed rate. A vacuum configuration is available on request across the same flow range.
