UV transmittance is the fraction of 254 nm light passing through a 10 mm water sample. It is as decisive as flow rate, and water that looks clear can still have low UVT if it carries dissolved iron or manganese.

Below about 70% UVT, UltraAqua recommend the LUVT series rather than the standard PP range.
