Fresh By Design has recently completed the design, supply, installation and commissioning of the Macquarie Perch Recovery Centre at Snobs Creek for the Victorian Fisheries Authority, supporting captive breeding and recovery of endangered native fish species.
The facility comprises five (5) independent recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS), including broodstock, spawning, incubation, fry rearing, trout cod and a dedicated quarantine system, providing high levels of biosecurity and operational separation.
System Overview:
- Broodstock systems including multiple tank sizes (5000 L, 2000 L, 1000 L, 500 L)
- Macquarie Perch spawning, incubation and fry rearing
- Trout Cod incubation and larval rearing
- Quarantine system for isolation and health management
- Central plant room with consistent filtration across all systems
The facility also includes 4 x rack systems to support the aquaculture process, incorporating:
The broodstock room was designed for full operational flexibility, allowing each individual tank to be supplied from 2 x different RAS systems and source water as required.
Key Equipment Supplied:
- Polymaster Aquaculture Tanks with Level Control Boxes
- FAIVRE Aquaculture 60 Series Drum Filters with GRUNDFOS CR 3‑9 backwash pumps
- Pentair Aquatic Eco-Systems, Inc Sparus HP return pumps with constant flow technology (VSD, duty/standby)
- ULTRAAQUA UV & Ozone Systems MR1‑350PP UV Sterilisation systems
- Oasis iX28 and iX19 inverter heat pumps
- In‑ground concrete sumps and MBBR biofilters
- Sprintex Ltd Turbo Blower air supply (duty/standby)
- OxyGuard International Pacific monitoring and alarm systems across plant and culture rooms
