Because many species are cultured using green water techniques or clay, it is difficult to see the tank bottom. The only effective cleaning mechanism is by siphoning these tanks which takes an enormous amount of time and results in many viable larvae getting siphoned in the process. Oceans Design’s self-cleaning tanks utilise a squeegee that cleans both the sidewall and tank bottom depositing all the debris into a trough extending from the centre of the tank to the side wall.
