Q: Do these units heat and chill, or only heat?

Every model is reverse-cycle — it heats and chills from the one unit, with automatic defrost.

Q: Is the chilling capacity the same as the heating capacity?

No. Chilling output is roughly a third to a half of heating output on the same unit, so a chill-led system needs a larger model.

Q: What conditions are the capacities quoted at?

Heating at 27 °C air / 26 °C water and cooling at 35 °C air / 30 °C water — Pentair’s rated conditions. Capacity and COP fall away as ambient temperature drops.

Q: Which series should I choose — HXi, VXi or Commercial?

HXi discharges air sideways so it suits low overhead clearance; VXi discharges upward and needs open space above; the PWT commercial units cover 68 and 135 kW continuous loads.

Q: Can they be used on salt water?

Yes — the titanium heat exchanger is rated for fresh, brackish and salt water.

Q: Single phase or three phase?

Single phase up to 24 kW on HXi and 28 kW on VXi; three phase for HXi 28 and 35 kW, VXi 32 kW, and both commercial units at 400–415 V.
