It depends on the reactor rather than the lamp wattage: the MR1 75/220 stainless sensor suits MR1 75W and 220W units, the PTFE sensor suits 75W to 440W single lamp PP reactors, and the PTFE MODBUS-5 sensor suits multi lamp PP reactors. Send us the UV ID from the control cabinet if you are unsure.

Sensors drift with age and are typically replaced every two years, but recalibration against a reference sensor will often extend service life if the unit is otherwise sound.

Wipe the sensor head at each sleeve clean, and inspect it a month after commissioning to set the cleaning interval for your water — a fouled sensor under-reads and causes nuisance alarms.

No — a generic ballast will strike the lamp but will not hold the amalgam at operating temperature, so rated output, rated life and confidence in reactor dose are lost.

Drivers normally outlast several sets of lamps, but if a lamp fails to strike or output collapses suddenly rather than tailing off, check the driver before assuming the lamp has gone.
