Varicon Cell-Hi Walnes Algae Nutrient is a highly specialised nutrient solution designed to promote the optimal growth of a wide variety of micro-algae species in aquaculture, biotechnology, and algae research.
Formulated with a balanced mix of essential vitamins, trace elements, and minerals, it is ideal for cultivating species critical for aquaculture feed, biofuel production, and biotechnological applications.
- Essential Nutrients: Contains nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), magnesium (Mg), and trace elements such as iron (Fe), zinc (Zn), manganese (Mn), copper (Cu), molybdenum (Mo), cobalt (Co), and boron (B).
- Vitamins: Enriched with B vitamins (B12, thiamine, biotin) essential for micro-algal growth.
- Optimal pH Range: Suitable for algae culture systems with a pH range of 7.5-8.5, ensuring maximum nutrient uptake.
- Recommended Dosage: 1 ml per litre of culture medium or according to specific requirements of the species being cultivated.
- Storage Conditions: Store in a cool, dark place, away from direct sunlight and high temperatures, to maintain the stability and effectiveness of the nutrients.
Alage species cultivated:
- Chlorella vulgaris: Widely used in aquaculture as a feed supplement and in biofuel research due to its high lipid content.
- Nannochloropsis: A popular species for aquaculture, particularly for feeding rotifers and shrimp larvae. High in omega-3 fatty acids.
- Tetraselmis: Commonly used in marine hatcheries for fish and shrimp larvae due to its high protein content.
- Isochrysis galbana: Essential in mollusk and fish larval feed due to its high levels of DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid), important for growth and health.
- Dunaliella salina: Known for its high beta-carotene content, important in cosmetic and nutritional supplements.
- Skeletonema: Often cultured for its use as a live feed in the production of rotifers.
Walnes is recommended by the UK Culture Collection for algae and protozoa and flagellates.
Application:
100g per 1000 litres of culture or according to specific requirements of the species being cultivated.
For advanced and tubular reactors giving much higher algal concentrations, multiply dose rate by 2x to 4x if required.
1.5 kg makes 10,000 litres culture medium at Walnes strength
For diatoms it is recommended to add 30 grams of sodium metasilicate for each 1000 litres of culture water after adding the Cell-hi.
