UV Systems for Aquaculture Intake Water
ACN ULTRABARRIER™ corrosion-resistant (SS) series are designed specifically for intake water UV disinfection in the aquaculture industry. Made from Stainless steel AISI316L material it withstands even the most saline water environments commonly found in the aquaculture industry to recreate the natural environment for species. Equipped with double UV intensity monitoring system and CFD optimized reactor chambers for an even UV dose distribution with minimum head loss providing high UV dose. The ACN ULTRABARRIER™ series has also been approved by the Norwegian Veterinary Institute (NVI) for intake water disinfection in the aquaculture industry.
ACN ULTRABARRIER™ UV series provides an even UV dose distribution creating a ‘firewall’ in order to ensure that no harmful microorganisms enter into the production and potentially compromise the livelihood and quality of the fish species even in the most humic water environments.

UV system series ACN ULTRABARRIER™ was engineered specifically for intake water in the aquaculture sector. The unique shape, achieved through the meticulous development process, helps to increase the performance of hydraulics, significantly reduce head-loss and eliminate dark areas. Depending on the source of intake water – options for stainless steel AISI316L (SS) and corrosion free polypropylene (PP) are available.
DVGW/ÖNORM validated Duplex UV sensors
Certified DVGW/ÖNORM UV sensor guarantees secure water disinfection for any situation. ACN ULTRABARRIER™ series for intake water comes with two ÖNORM validated UV sensors. This enables the system to continuously regulate the dose of UV and ensure high biosecurity standard in the fish farms.
ULTRAAQUA UV Automatic ULTRAWIPER™ System
Wiper systems by ULTRAAQUA UV are fully automated cleaning systems designed to last even in salt environments. A compact design allows full access to lamps and quartz and changing the wiper rings can be done in a few minutes without tools. The cleaning interval can be adjusted to suit the application demand and extend the lifetime of components.
Norwegian Veterinary Institute Approval
ULTRAAQUA UV systems are approved by the Norwegian Veterinary Institute – a biomedical research institute and the national leading center of expertise in biosecurity of fish and land animals. High minimum UV dose
Depending where the water is sourced it may contain living microorganisms.
Different sources: rivers, ponds, borehole, public water. Effective UV creates UV firewall and ensures that no harmful microorganisms enter to the RAS. High minimum UV dose typically from 100 mJ/cm2 to 300mJ/cm².
High hydraulic efficiency ensures efficient disinfection and reduced total number of UV lamps. UV Lamps are installed closer together reduce dark areas and to guarantee high minimum UV dose for microorganisms even in turbid water.
Intake water FIREWALL UV design
ULTRAAQUA ACN ULTRABARRIER™ series ensures no organisms entry to the RAS system. Based on two UV-sensor measurements and flow-rate input, control system checks that current flow is below acceptable level in order to maintain the target minimum UV-dose.
