Oasis iX & C-Series Heat Pumps — Inverter Heating and Chilling for Aquaculture
The Oasis iX and C-Series are full-inverter heat pumps for water heating and chilling in aquaculture, aquaponics and commercial water-temperature control — from compact 9 kW iX units to 120 kW C-Series commercial systems. Every model uses a DC-inverter compressor that modulates output to match the actual heating or cooling load (rather than cycling on and off), a titanium heat exchanger rated for fresh, brackish and salt water, and low-GWP R32 refrigerant. All units both heat and chill.
Fresh by Design supplies and supports the Oasis range across Australia and New Zealand. We size each unit to your water volume, target temperature, ambient conditions and power supply — talk to us before settling on a model.
Key Features
- Full DC-inverter compressor — output follows the load instead of cycling on/off, around 30% more efficient than standard on/off units and holds water temperature stable
- Titanium heat exchanger — fresh, brackish or salt water
- Heats and chills, with automatic reverse-cycle defrost that keeps the unit running in ambient temperatures below 0 °C
- R32 refrigerant (low global warming potential)
- Gold-fin hydrophilic-coated condenser coils — corrosion resistance and efficient heat transfer
- 3.5″ LCD touch controller, fully programmable with multi-period tariff/time scheduling
- Wi-Fi as standard and solar PV-ready (iX Series)
- Powder-coated steel cabinet, internal flow switches and built-in drains
- Suitable for single or multiple-unit commercial installations
- Australian-backed brand (Sunlover Heating) with national, in-house after-sales support
iX or C-Series — which do I need?
It comes down to capacity and power supply. The iX Series (9–28 kW) suits tanks, ponds and small-to-mid aquaculture and aquaponics systems, runs on single phase up to 28 kW (three phase on the iX28T), and uses 40 mm water connections. The C-Series (38–120 kW) is a three-phase commercial range for large RAS, hatcheries and facilities with high continuous heating or chilling demand, with 50–110 mm connections.
| Series | Heating | Cooling | Power supply | Water connection | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Oasis iX | 9.4–28.9 kW | 3.2–14.5 kW | Single phase (3-phase iX28T) | 40 mm | Tanks, ponds, small–mid RAS, aquaponics |
| Oasis C-Series | 38–120 kW | 24–94 kW | Three phase 400 V | 50–110 mm | Large RAS, hatcheries, high-demand commercial |

iX heating rated at 27 °C air / 26 °C water; iX cooling at 35 °C air / 29 °C water. C-Series rated at 19 °C air / 26 °C water (heating and cooling). Capacity and COP vary with ambient temperature — full performance data is in the spec sheets under Downloads.
What size heat pump do I need?
Sizing depends on your water volume, your target temperature versus your coldest (or hottest) ambient, whether tanks are indoors or covered, and your flow rate and power supply. A unit that is marginal at winter ambient will run flat out and still fall short — and chilling capacity is lower than heating capacity on the same unit, so chill-driven systems are sized differently. Send us your volume, target temperature and location and we’ll match a model: call 02 4868 2500 or email sales@freshbydesign.com.au.
Applications
Suitable for fresh water, seawater and brackish systems: RAS, aquaponics, hatcheries, broodstock conditioning, live holding and purging, research aquariums, and commercial pools. Frequently Asked Questions
| Can Oasis heat pumps run on salt water? | Yes — the titanium heat exchanger and coated coils suit fresh, brackish and seawater systems. |
| Do they heat and chill? | Yes, every model is reverse-cycle — heating and chilling from the one unit. |
| iX or C-Series? | iX for tanks, ponds and small-to-mid systems (to ~28 kW); C-Series for large RAS and hatcheries (38–120 kW, three phase). |
| Single or three phase? | iX 9–28 run on single phase; the iX28T and all C-Series models are three phase. |
| Will they work on cold mornings? | Yes — automatic reverse-cycle defrost keeps them running in ambient temperatures below 0 °C. |
| What about support and spares? | Oasis is an Australian-backed brand with national in-house after-sales support — talk to us. |
